Access Services: Circulation and Reserves

Search for Items on Reserve by Course or Instructor

Faculty Reserve Request Form

Please use this form to request print, DVD, or other physical materials to be placed on library reserve.  Reserves are shelved behind the Circulation desk, and check out for 2 hours (textual) or 3 hours (media) to help ensure that all students enrolled in a course have fair access.  Materials that the library owns are available for overnight loan if checked out just before closing time.  If the materials belong to you, please bring them to the Circulation desk for processing.  If the materials are owned by the library, we are available to pull them for you. Reserve Requests for Electronic Materials

Faculty typically take advantage of their learning management system (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.) to post electronic articles or book chapters.  If you would like assistance with Canvas, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at 518-782-6000.  Please provide your students with the permalink to library resources instead of uploading a document (PDF, scan, etc.) directly to Canvas.  Permalinks are stable links that connect your students to a resource; Here is an example of a permalink to an eBook.  When off campus, Siena users will be prompted to log in with their network credentials.  Please ask a librarian if you'd like help locating or using permalinks.

The Standish Library is Now Fine Free!

As of Fall 2019, the Standish Library is fine free!  This means that you do not accrue any overdue fines for having materials out past the due date.  We believe that collecting fines provides little incentive for the timely return of library materials, and we want to extend our appreciation for all of our patrons by implementing this change.  If you keep the material 30 days past the due date, we will bill your student account for the replacement charge. Our loan periods and replacement policies have not changed (see below).  Note that due to their nature, overdue reserves still accrue fines. Please send any questions or comments to our team at circadm@siena.edu.

Renewing Siena Checkouts via Your Online Library Account

1.  Log into your library account with your name (last, first) and college ID number (begins with 901, 902, or 2539...).

2.  You will see a link marked "Items currently checked out" with the number of items you have checked out. Click the link to view the materials you have checked out.
3.  Select the materials you want to renew by checking the boxes in the RENEW column and then click the Renew Selected button. If you want to renew everything, click the Renew ALL button.
4.  If you cannot renew items, a message will appear on the screen. If you are successful, a new due date will appear in the STATUS column.
