Theses Submission Guidelines

Guidelines for submitting theses - Honors

  • Once your Honors Thesis has been accepted, please be sure to make any changes or corrections that were directed by your Thesis mentor or readers. Do not submit a copy with handwritten comments or corrections included on drafts or any grading indicators!
  • Be sure to collect all of your readers' signatures on your signature page. The readers' signatures should be in order of their ranking as reader (ie. mentor's name first, second reader next and third reader last). If one or more of your readers is not on campus to add their handwritten signature to the page, please type their name or digital signature information on the approprate line. If you are unable to contact the reader, please consult with your mentor, or with the Honors Program Director for instructions before submitting your final copy.
  • There is a scanner in the library, if you need to scan the page with the physical autographs on it. (Also, a clear picture taken by a cell phone camera should be sufficient for most software to make the conversion to pdf).
  • The digital signature page should be inserted into the digital copy of your thesis as the title page. If you have a different title page that you wish to be included in the copy, please make it the second page.
  • Once you have made these edits, please save the file as a .pdf. Please do not submit a copy of your thesis that is NOT a .pdf file. Please be sure to save yourself a copy.
  • Email the final copy to Sean Conley, the College Archivist, at this email: sconley@siena.edu. Please be sure to indicate that this is your Honors Thesis in the email's subject field.
  • You will receive an email conformation back that your thesis has been received with 72 hours of your submitting it.

The format and requirements of the Thesis will be directed by the school / department that is granting the degree. Any questions on these matters should be directed to your Thesis supervisor, Department Chair or School Dean.

Obtaining a physical copy / Binding options

The library no longer provides bound copies of Honors or Master's Theses to students. The library will provide future digital access to the submitted copy in perpetuity through its library management system (currently SaintSearch or ContentDM) or instituitional repository (under development). Some delay in posting should be expected.

Those students who wish to order a physical copy must make their own arrangements. Here is a short list of possible options for obtaining a hard or soft bound physical copy:
