The Siena Free Use Closet : Activism in Action

The Free Use Closet is a student-led effort to increase sustainability on campus.  It works simply and effectively -- any student can donate old clothes, and any student can take from the closet for free.  In establishing this system, free use closets like the one at Siena not only reduce textile waste but also make it easier for people to access the clothing they need.  The beauty of the closet is in its anonymity -- any student can go on a free shopping spree there, reducing the stigma for students who need clothing, and allowing everyone to increase their wardrobe without contributing to textile waste.

The Siena Free Use Closet is open to all Siena Community Members. This year's Pop-Up Event will be on November 10, 2025, from 4-5:30, in 241 Sarazen.
