This guide has been created for students taking ENGL285, Becoming American in the Long 19th Century and HIST236, American Immigration in Historical Perspective.

Getting Started

Scope of Guide

The focus of this guide is the curriculum covered in two Siena College courses: ENGL285, Becoming American in the Long 19th Century and HIST236, American Immigration in Historical Perspective. Because of this, the scope of this guide is very broad.  However, as broad as it is, there is no attempt to cover the history and experiences of people from all countries, cultures, and other relevant groups
