In order to download ebooks to your desktop or laptop you much first have Adobe Digital Editions on your machine. This is freely available. For Siena machines, you may have to request the download via ITS.
You may want to create an Adobe ID if you plan on transferring ebooks to portable devices. It is not required for downloading to a computer.
See ProQuest's help guide for tutorials and other information regarding downloading ebrary ebooks.
Please note: downloading an ebook for offline access removes it from use for others. If you need to download an ebook, please select the appropriate amount of time to 'checkout' the book based on your need while being mindful of the impact to others.
Ebook Central is ProQuest's platform for hosting their 150,000+ available titles!
For more information, including tutorials and platform details, see Ebook Central's own libguide.
If you'd like help from one of the librarians, please contact Ali Larsen (alarsen@siena.edu) for an appointment.
If you find an e-book book you wish to download to a mobile device, click the 'full download' button in the record. Follow the prompts regarding the device you are using and where the ebook is going. To download to a mobile device you will need to have the Adobe Digital Editions app downloaded and an Adobe ID.
*Be aware that the Adobe Digital Editions app likely will not work well, or not at all. At this point, there is no other viable option for downloading for offline use.
